The rollout of Microsoft’s Xbox Live dashboard update, originally planned for this morning, has been “slightly delayed,” according to a message posted on Twitter this morning by Xbox Live’s Larry Hyrb.

Microsoft has since confirmed the news via email, without detailing the cause.

“We are still working to get the release out,” the company said in a statement a few minutes ago. “Stay tuned, we’ll have an update this afternoon on when it will begin rolling out.”

The Xbox Live update will add expanded TV programming, including live content; new third-party apps; integration of Microsoft’s Bing search technology; expanded Kinect navigation controls; and new social networking features.

It’s part of a broader attempt by Microsoft to give the Xbox 360 console a bigger role in the living room.
