Anna Collins

Anna Collins, a former general manager at Microsoft, has been tapped as president of PhotoRocket.  Collins spent the past seven years at Microsoft, helping to oversee the company’s Ad Center search advertising business. Prior to that, she worked with PhotoRocket founder Scott Lipsky at aQuantive.

“PhotoRocket has demonstrated that they have the product, team and vision needed to be the ubiquitous player in the rapidly evolving photo market space,” said Collins, who spent seven years at Microsoft. “They have designed their apps and platform to simplify the complex and fragmented photo sharing experience by enabling one step sharing from anywhere to everywhere.”

As a result of the appointment, Gary Roshak is stepping down from his role as interim CEO. The former Yahoo and Marchex exec will remain on the board of the Seattle startup.

PhotoRocket was started by Lipsky, who previously co-founded Seattle online advertising juggernaut aQuantive. The startup has raised more $1 million in angel financing.

PhotoRocket launched last month, creating an easy way for people to share photos with friends via social networking sites such as Twitter, Facebook, Flickr and Shutterfly. Here’s a look at how it works:
