Users report Gmail outage

At about 11:25 a.m. Pacific time today, my connection to Gmail failed on both my PC and my Mac. And it doesn’t look like it is just me.

After posting to Twitter, a number of Gmail users also reported problems.

We are tracking the situation and we will update the post as we learn more. The Google Apps Status Dashboard doesn’t show any issues at this point.

A number of cloud computing services have suffered outages in recent weeks. Both Google and Microsoft reported problems earlier this month.

UPDATE 11:45 a.m.: I was able to get back into Gmail, but we will keep monitoring this throughout the day. It appears that the outage lasted about 10 to 15 minutes.

    Mine is down as well.  Tried from multiple computers as well as different connections.

        Yep, I am back too. I was down for about 10 minutes. Seems like things are humming along. 

        Maybe some just kicked out a power cord or something. :)

    Ours is back. We were down for less than 5 minutes. We also just switched to Google Apps in part due to reliability issues with our former hosting provider. Sure hope they fix whatever caused this!

    Kudos to the Gmail techs involved for discovering the problem (perhaps via Google+) and fixing it so quickly!

    It is nice to see that the issue, whatever it was, was fixed.

    Yeah I had similar issues… sucked….
