David Binder, who has served as chief financial officer at InfoSpace since January 2008, plans to step down from the job in mid-August to take a new position as chief financial officer of Blue Nile. He first joined InfoSpace in 2004, joining the Internet search company from drugstore.com.

“I am thrilled to be joining a team that has great drive and a sense of purpose in building the world’s premier diamond and jewelry retailer,”Binder said in a statement. “I believe Blue Nile has unique opportunities to extend its industry leadership position around the world, and I am excited to be a part of the company’s future success.”

Binder takes over from Vijay Talwar, General Manager of International operations at Blue Nile who had served as interim CFO.

Just last week, Blue Nile announced that Starbucks veteran Chris Bruzzo had joined the company’s board.

Shares of Blue Nile are down 23 percent on the year. InfoSpace shares are up 14 percent.

InfoSpace Chief Accounting Officer Eric Emans will serve as interim chief financial officer until a permanent successor is selected, the company said.
