Frank Artale

Back in August, I interviewed Frank Artale of Ignition Partners about the torrid investment pace that he’d engaged in since joining the Bellevue venture capital firm in March.  Well, that pace has continued right into the fall, with the former Microsoft and Citrix exec earlier this month leading a $40 million investment in Palo Alto, California-based Cloudera.

And now tooday, Artale is yet again emerging as the lead investor in another cloud computing startup. This time, he’s backing Santa Monica, California-based ServiceMesh

“Through ServiceMesh, we believe the promise of enterprise-scale cloud computing is finally becoming a reality,” said Artale in a release.

ServiceMesh is led by CEO Eric Pulier, who said that the company’s platform provides a “missing link by bringing IT services directly to users in a “safe and controlled” environment. In January, the company said that it tripled revenue last year and posted its third straight year of profitability.

As we’ve noted in the past, Ignition has been on an absolutely blistering pace so far this year, backing about 20 new companies. The majority of those have been in the Bay Area.
