Updated below with the winner and answer.

We’ve featured lots of unusual songs and sounds in our weekly Name that Tech Tune challenge, but this one takes it to a whole new level.

Here’s the question: Can you identify the film franchise responsible for the TV holiday special that gave us this one-of-a-kind tune?

If you can identify the movie franchise that spawned the TV special featuring that tune, send your entry to contest@geekwire.com. From the pool of correct answers, we’ll select two people at random to win our prize: a limited-edition GeekWire 2012 Calendar, featuring a dozen “Geeks Who Give Back” in some amazing photography by Red Box Pictures.

For more context on the song, here’s the full Name that Tech Tune segment from this week’s GeekWire show.

Once again, if you know the answer, send your entry to contest@geekwire.com.

Name that Tech Tune is a regular feature of the GeekWire radio show and podcast, airing at 7 a.m. Saturday on 97.3 KIRO-FM in Seattle, and available Saturday morning on GeekWire.com.

By the way, the answer to last week’s Name that Tech Tune challenge was Plants vs. Zombies. We’ve updated last week’s post with the winner.

Update, Jan. 6: As many of you knew, the song was Carrie Fisher singing the painful “Life Day” anthem from the equally painful Star Wars Holiday Special in 1978. Thanks to KIRO-FM’s Erynn Rose for coming up with this classic. (Skip to 1:50 to hear the song.)

Congrats to our winners, Ross Lampky and Aaron Bregel, chosen at random from the pool of correct answers. Thanks for playing, everybody.
