The Seattle Green Festival is taking place this weekend at the Qwest Event Center, featuring everyone from Rep. Dennis Kucinich talking about “reconnecting with the natural world” to programs about Wal-Mart’s “green revolution.” Ford Motor Co. kicked off the event by showcasing its Transit Connect Electric vehicle, an all-electric commercial van designed for local florists and other businesses that make quick deliveries in a region.

It’s not quite as sweet as a Tesla. But Ford is hoping that the new Transit Connect Electric van will help transform commercial fleets where vehicles have pre-defined routes and need daily charging.

Ford has slated Seattle as one of the first U.S. markets to receive the Focus Electric, set to debut later this year.
