Rivelo

F5 Networks, fresh off its blockbuster financial announcement last week, continues to strengthen its executive bench. The Seattle company today announced that Manny Rivelo, a 19-year veteran of Cisco Systems, has joined as vice president of security and strategic solutions.

Cisco and F5 Networks are longtime rivals, so the hiring of Rivelo is especially interesting.

At Cisco, Rivelo served as senior vice president of engineering operations and systems. He will report directly to CEO John McAdam, who said that Rivelo “brings to F5 a strong track record of success, a keen business sense, deep engineering and operations experience, and a customer focused mindset.

“I’m confident that Manny will help accelerate F5’s expansion in the security market and take advantage of the many new strategic opportunities we are encountering, leveraging the success of our core ADC market solutions,” McAdam added.

Shares of F5, which soared last week, are down 18 percent on the year.
