Amazon.com isn’t the only tech giant wooing college students this summer. Microsoft too is offering a special deal, giving away free Xbox 360s to high-school or college students who purchase new Windows PCs priced at $699 or more. Yep, you heard that right: Buy a PC and you get a gaming console where you can whittle away your formative college years.
Microsoft unveiled the program in May, and it just posted a new video promoting the offer featuring none other than a Halo Spartan on a college campus tour. (Warning: Don’t hit a the supersoldier in the head with a frisbee).
Microsoft has been having fun with the promotion. You also may recall this ad from the campaign earlier in the year in which Spartan graduates from high school.
Microsoft could take some heat for connecting gaming consoles to educational endeavors, and as we previously wrote the promotion could play a role in destroying a few college careers.
But, as we reported yesterday, Microsoft is a big believer that game play can serve as a powerful learning tool in the classroom. (Not sure if that applies to Halo).
