Will this be one of the showcase apps for Amazon.com’s long-rumored Android tablet?

Internet Movie Database, the Amazon.com service better known as IMDb, today released a revamped version of its app for Android devices, including a new interface for Android Honeycomb tablets.

IMDb already had an iOS app that runs on Apple’s iPad, but this new Android release also scales the app up for tablets based on Google’s operating system.

The Seattle e-commerce company is widely reported to be working on its own line of tablet computers, believed to based on Android and leveraging Amazon’s Android Appstore.

The IMDb app was also revamped for Android phones. In addition to the tablet support and bug fixes, features of the updated app include …

  • Login and rate movies.
  • Watchlist where you can track movies and TV shows that interest you.
  • Enhanced Showtimes, which show movie theaters based on distance from your location
  • Purchase movie tickets through movietickets.com.
  • Improved cache performance.
IMDb also has apps for Windows Phone and iPhone.
