Amazon.com has scored a victory in the 1-click patent case, with a federal appeals court today ruling that claims made by Cordance Corp. were not valid, reports Bloomberg News. The technology, which was patented by Amazon in 1999, allows shoppers to purchase goods with a single click.

The patent has been the source of ongoing litigation, and some have argued that the 1-click technology is so broad that it should not have been patented at all. Software maker Cordance had been looking for as much as $84 million in damages, Bloomberg reports.
