Timothy Ferriss, the best-selling author of the 4-Hour Workweek and The 4-Hour Body, has chosen Amazon.com to publish his upcoming book titled The 4-Hour Chef. It is a big win for the Seattle online retailer, which has been rapidly expanding its publishing arm this year.
The book — described as a way to transform the “way we eat and cook” — is set to be released next April in print, enhanced digital and audio formats.
“My decision to collaborate with Amazon Publishing wasn’t just a question of which publisher to work with,” said Ferriss. “It was a question of what future of publishing I want to embrace. My readers are migrating irreversibly into digital, and it made perfect sense to work with Amazon to try and redefine what is possible.”
In a statement, Larry Kirshbaum, VP and Publisher or Amazon Publishing said that ‘The 4-Hour Chef’ is a watershed work, and an ideal way to launch our new publishing imprint in New York.”
Ferriss — described by The New York Times as a “self-help guru for young men” — has a couple things in common with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Both attended Princeton University, though Bezos graduated 14 years before Ferriss. And both are angel investors, sharing a mutual investment in Twitter.
However, in the Twitter count category, Ferriss is way ahead with 269,911 followers.
