Amazon Web Services today announced that it is expanding its annual Start-Up Challenge competition to include a total of 15 finalists from the regions of the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe, the Middle East and Africa.

“Within the AWS community, we’re seeing hotbeds of innovation emerge throughout the world,” said Adam Selipsky, Vice President, Amazon Web Services, in a release.

Six finalists will win $10,000 in AWS credits and a trip to Palo Alto, California where the final judging rounds will occur. The winner will get $50,000 in credits and $50,000 in cash.

In its fifth year, the competition awards prizes and cash to the top startups that are building on the back of AWS. Past winners include M-Dot Network, Good Data, Yieldex and Ooyala.

The competition is open to startups that have less than $10 million in revenue and have raised less than $10 million in venture capital. The application deadline is October 2.
