Seattle-based Allrecipes.com has acquired Food Wishes, a channel of popular how-to videos from  “Chef John” Mitzewich — saying it “adds YouTube’s largest, most viewed collection of how-to food videos to the world’s largest audience of online cooks” and “further establishes Allrecipes.com as the most powerful online destination for home cooks.”

The headline on the news release says it’s part of a “major push to dominate the online video food space.”

All this over-the-top competitive rhetoric seems a bit out of place considering that Food Wishes specializes in videos for such dishes as Fried Peanut Butter and Jelly Pinchy Pies. But hey, if you’re going to rule the world, it always helps to have some Picked Padron Peppers on hand.

Allrecipes, a unit of the Reader’s Digest Association, didn’t disclose the financial terms of the deal. Food Wishes’ YouTube Channel will remain online, but the videos will also be brought to Allrecipes’ sites and apps.
