By Alyssa Royse

I’m not really your mother, though it’s a role I play far too well. But, if I were, I’d hand you a drink and a slice of pie and go through all the things you are thankful for, even though you don’t sleep, your company is running out of money, your competition is mounting and your spouse is increasingly frustrated with you. But, I don’t know where you are this morning, and I’m waiting for my candied bacon to finish candy-ing, so I’ll share my thoughts with you, and you can borrow them.

Thank You TO Entrepreneurs for:
  • Innovating against all odds. Sure,  your goods and services make our world easier, but it’s your spirit that brightens the world. In dark times, we need people who believe anything is possible, and no one does that like entrepreneurs.
  • Creating job and economic growth even as our biggest companies were shutting down. Historically, 70% of job growth is from small businesses like yours. Thank you, we need that.
  • Being the kind of people who will cure cancer, end our dependence on fossil fuels, and provide a steady stream of silly cats to make us laugh when life sucks.

Thank You FROM Entrepreneurs for:

  • Believing in our visions, at least enough to not stop us, even if you think we’re crazy.
  • Buying our drinks when we’re too broke to do it ourselves.
  • Investing in our companies and our dreams.
  • Being our friends, spouses, lovers, advisors, & family. We know we’re not easy to love, we really do. We know we’re arrogant, delusional, stubborn and not the safest post to hitch your horse to. But We’ll make the world magical, if you’ll keep making it warm, stable and welcoming.

Eat well, you starteruppers and fledgling tycoons. There is much to be thankful for. Share, share alike – and CREATE!

(what are you thankful for?)
